Astonishing Beauty Tips

Everyone loves to be pampered but not all of us have the time or money to do so. I came across this great post from Pickee today about natural beauty remedies you can make at home using products that you probably have right now. But first, here's a link directly to her post.

I also found a greta natural face cleanser recipe using a blend of oils, but hold on I know what your thinking. Most cleansers (including shampoos) contain ingredients that strip your skin and hair of their natural oils. When that happens, our skin automatically starts to reproduce even more of these oils causing our skin and hair to thus get oily/greasy.

For this recipe, the most popular blend of oils is castor oil and extra-virgin olive oil. The castor oil draws out dirt and other gunk from your pores. The olive oil is a great moisturizer that helps nourish your skin.

Eating Right

I've been analyzing a lot of the foods I have been eating and's a lot of crap! So as much of a procrastinator that I am, I am trying to overcome that and start taking action. The first action on my list is Eating Right! I've stalked my fridge full of fruits and veggies, whole grain breads and snacks, and more.

Today for breakfast I had a delicious smoothie with strawberries, banana, blackberries, half a peach, half a pear, a few blueberries, vanilla yogurt and strawberry banana juice.

Mm mm good! I found a bunch of yummy looking smoothies that I'd like to share with you.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Do you know any good smoothie recipes?

Stacey Lately

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to make a post of what I've been up to lately, why not right?

Since I've taught myself to crochet, I can't stop! And since I joined Pinterest, well....I can't stop either. I found a cute towel holder from here that inspired me to make one myself. I didn't mean to make it the same colour but hey you really can't go wrong with white, am I right? Hah. I made mine much simpler than hers though hers is super cute too!

Something else I've wanted to do for awhile is learn to play the piano. My sister gave me hers (Yamaha PSR-290)in hopes of helping me to learn so I could then teach her.'s been collecting dust for quite some time now. Until now. I was offered a free piano lesson at Best Buy that I actually just did the other day and I picked up on it pretty fast, I'm quite proud. I came home after that and dusted her off and man did it feel good. In fact, the guy who gave me the lesson was so kind as to offer me an additional free lesson next week so I'm pretty excited for that.

This is awesome!! Found it here, I would bring this with me everywhere if I had one!

I've been noticing a lot lately how much bad food I eat though I am getting better. This was my breakfast this morning; Low-fat vanilla yogurt, granola and fresh blueberries. I'm also buying way more fruits and veggies than I ever have and it feels great. My raspberries and strawberries in my backyard are blooming and I cannot wait to pick them! I love gardening, sure I get lazy and miss a watering every now and then but they're still living. I didn't plant nearly as much as I hoped for this year. In addition to my berries I have tomatoes, green onions, yellow onions, small potatoes, basil, parsley and chives. I wanted to plant some asparagus, red peppers, peas, carrots and some more herbs but....well I got lazy again and it was too late. Maybe next year.

And thats me lately! Take care :)

Crochet Pattern: Mens Loafer Slippers

I was perusing the internet for mens slippers and I came across really nice ones, however it was from a local New Zealand online shop and I didn't want to buy them...I wanted to make them myself. This pattern is mine but I can't help but feel a little guilty so to make myself feel better I will include a link to these wonderful slippers I got my inspiration from. (more pics coming soon)

Please note: These slippers are for indoor use only. Please do not take my pattern, all I ask is that you link to my tutorial on this site.
These slippers are mens size 9-13. I made them specifically for size 11 however they fit me (i'm a size 8) and they stretch quite a bit.

-4.25-5mm hook
-2 colours of yarn (or 1)

ch - chain stitch
dc - double crochet
slst - slip stitch
st - stitch

Round 1: Start by making a magic loop. (Tutorial found here) Ch 3 & m ake 8 dc into the circle. Pull 'tail' til the circle is tight and closed. Slst to first st.
Round 2: 2 dc in each st. slst in 1st dc. ch 2.
Round 3: 1 dc in same place, 2 dc in next. repeat til end. sl st in 1st, ch 2.
Round 4: 1 dc in same & next, 2 dc in next st. repeat til end. slst to first, ch 2.
Round 5-14: 1 dc in same stitch and in every stitch around. sl st to first, ch 2.
Round 15-28: Turn and work back the direction you came from. 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in each 12 stitches across. ch 2, turn. Repeat til round 18. (3 rounds)
Round 19-end: Ch 1. Go down the side of the flap. sc in each til the corner. 2 sc in corner st. 1 dc in each stitch around til you reach the other side of the flap. Stop in the stitch before the corner. Ch 2, turn and repeat 1 dc in same st and 1 dc each st around working back and forth (not around) til you've reach the desired length of your slipper.

now take the right sides together and slip stitch the top stitches from the top of the heel down to the bottom. End off.

With the same colour, join the yarn in the middle of the back (above the heel). sc in the same spot, start working your way along one side with sc til you get to a corner.

When you've reached the corner, 3sc in the corner stitch. Keep going after working in sc til you reach the corner edge of the flap. Do the same thing as the corner (3sc in corner stitch). Repeat with next edge and corner til you reach your first stitch. sl st into first st, end off.

Repeat the previous step with a new coloured yarn. And Voila, weave in ends and your done!
